Dave Hopkins will be a familiar face to club members old and new and his passing will leave a vacuum at the club. We all have our special memories of Dave who in many ways epitomised the meaning of a club member. Reliable; friendly; always helping around the club; the first there to set up the field and last to take it down; helping and guiding newbies either formally at introduction to archery classes or casually on the shooting line.
In the background he was always busy. Making new stands, fixing things, untangling tangled ropes, strings, stringers, anything that needed untangling. Clearing out the shed. He served on the committee as Equipment Officer, even though being on committees was ‘not his thing’. He preferred to ‘get on with it’ rather than have a long discussion.
