The forecast was for light rain from about 10.30am on Thursday so I got down to Weobley early to find that it was just me and Neil braving the weather. It was the first time for Neil S. shooting his asiatic bow outdoors and first time at field archery. The rain held off……..at first.

We shot the first two targets in the woods beneath the castle several times and then came across an unexpected obstacle in front of the bunnies target #12. A small tree had been blown over in front of the blue peg. It didn’t stop us shooting – but it will need to be removed. Another job on the To Do list.
One we got out into the field and the long uphill shot #9 at a 80cm target face Neil learnt about the challenges of an uphill shot into the wind. We dashed into Pheasant Wood and shot at #6 which is a very deceptive target with a shooting lane through the undergrowth.
By the time we got back to the cars the promised rain had arrived. We only got wet because the tailgate of Neil’s car was not big enough to shelter both of us.
